On Your Own

Topic. Topic. Topic.

I have been thinking about what to write when I realized I don’t have to think. Women always have something bugging their minds all day long anyways. So I’ll talk spontaneously about women.

There was a quote about girls that I can’t take off of my mind. “Each time a woman stands up for herself, she stands up for all women.”

I am a strong independent woman. That’s always my line when my boyfriend and I go shopping and I don’t want him to carry more than I can handle myself. I feel a lot stronger that way. When we arrive home, that’s a whole lot of another story. Everything hurts. But at least I proved something.

Another issue about “girls” these days is going home. Alone. At night. Some will say:
“You must go with someone who can protect you.”
“Drive a car or something.”
“Do you think you can walk home BY YOURSELF?”

Like, “yeah, sis. I’m not a crybaby. Are you?” Don’t you realize you’re downgrading women capabilities? Most ladies do it and there’s nothing wrong about it. It’s just your mind that’s telling you to be afraid. (But if your home is in the middle of nowhere, that’s, that, I don’t want to talk about it.)

“She believed she could, so she did.” This quote made me think about greater possibilities. If ever we doubt ourselves, it’s not their fault, to begin with.

Every woman has a story. Things can be rough but being a female doesn’t mean we can be downgraded by anyone. I don’t consider myself a feminist but I do trust women’s power. I’ll just leave it here.

Let me hear your thoughts!
